Sasin to Host Inaugural Global Inclusion Forum: Shifting The Global Inclusion Agenda To The Global South

BANGKOK, Thailand — August 12, 2026 — Sasin School of Management, in partnership with an international coalition of universities, will host the inaugural Global Inclusion Forum from August 21–23, 2026, in Bangkok, Thailand.
Over three years in the making, this event brings together researchers, executives, policymakers, and community advocates from more than 15 countries. It aims to establish a practical, balanced approach to organizational equity by centering the conversation in the Global South, offering a rare opportunity to redefine how inclusion works across businesses, governments, and educational institutions worldwide.
Changing Minds and Redefining Frameworks
For years, standard models of workplace diversity and inclusion have been designed primarily within Western countries and applied globally. However, these standardized frameworks often require adaptation to fit distinct cultural dynamics, local norms, and regional expectations, which can lead to superficial compliance rather than genuine belonging.
The Global Inclusion Forum addresses this challenge by focusing on real-world impact. The forum is designed to change minds, refine existing ideas, and create lasting connections. By centering these discussions in Asia, organizers aim to build a modern, culturally aware framework that values local insights and addresses structural complexities with practical, respectful solutions.
Developing the 2027 Global Handbook of Inclusion
Led by Associate Professor Dr. Drew B. Mallory, Sasin Inclusion Ambassador, the Bangkok forum serves as the primary developmental foundation for The Global Handbook of Inclusion in Organizations, scheduled for publication by Edward Elgar Publishing in 2027. Co-edited by Dr. Mallory alongside an international editorial team from Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (Japan), the University of South-Eastern Norway (Norway), and the University of Guelph (Canada), the handbook features contributions representing dozens of cultures and countries worldwide.
During the three-day event, contributing authors and regional experts will participate in collaborative workshops, labs, and discussions. Each session is designed to draw from global scholarship and practice to break down conventional vocabulary, explore localized concepts of trust, and map out how genuine community-building occurs in different parts of the world.
Interactive Workshops for Applied Policy and Action
The forum is built around highly interactive, participant-driven formats designed to generate practical research and build concrete pathways for policy makers. Key workshop themes will address critical, real-world issues, including:
- Relational and Social Dynamics: Exploring how local cultural values can be integrated to build stronger, more cohesive teams.
- Community Advocacy, Mental Health, and Institutional Support: Addressing whose knowledge shapes policy, how culturally responsive practices refine health and legal support, and how to co-design solutions alongside marginalized groups.
Neurodivergence, Disability, and Gender Representation: Redesigning operational, educational, and corporate spaces to support cognitive diversity, universal accessibility, and authentic pathways for gender and sexual minority economic and social representation.
Global Mobility, Legislative Mandates, and Expatriate Integration: Analyzing how cross-border legal frameworks, restrictive visa regimes, and local policy mandates affect workplace mobility, international traveler safety, and the successful integration of expatriate workforces.
By connecting educators, corporate leaders, non-profit directors, and international researchers, the forum aims to serve as a networking engine, fostering partnerships that balance business performance with deep, sustainable social impact.
