Giffard Cocktail Competition - Thailand

Starting back in 1997 known as Giffard West Cup which consisted of few European countries and USA has extended to Asia. This competition is all about the “Art” of flavor. This competition begins from individual country to regional and ends at Angers, France every 2 years once. This is the first time Giffard Cocktail competition is held in Thailand with our partner company Brand Connect Thailand.

In this competition, the winner will represent Thailand in the regional finals at Bangkok, Thailand, competing among 5 other Champions from China, Hong Kong, Philippines, Malaysia, and Singapore.

The top 2 of the regional will be representing Asia in Angers, in France for the global finals on 6thJune 2017.

This finals we will also be celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Giffard West Cup.

This Monday 3rd April, Zuma Bangkok host the event and 16 bartenders joined the competition, from cocktail bars like Havana Social, Backstage, Bronx, W Hotel, etc.

Each competitor had 5 minutes to do and present their creative recipe starring Giffard liqueurs and syrups at their best, in front of a solid panel of judges and influential actors of Bar industry in Thailand: Suwincha Singsuwan (Chacha), Head bartender from Rabbit Hole, Nicks Anuman-Rajadhon, founder of VV Company and Teens of Thailand, Carson Quinn, Brand Ambassador and Mixologist for Iron Balls Gin, joined by the Asia Pacific Manager from Giffard, Arthur Piffoux.

Sixteen different recipes has been presented, original creations made with one of bartenders favorite’s liqueur, Giffard Banana from Brazil or the very surprising taste of Cucumber syrup. The final podium brought up Patcharaporn Kongjun (Fon) from Havana Social as Champion of Thailand with the “Jungle Book”, Krit Pragobdee (Joey) from Bronx Liquid Parlor with “Plantains” cocktail as the 1st runner up, and Sebastian de la Cruz from Tropic City with “PB & Thai” cocktail as the 2nd runner up.

Fon will be representing Thailand for Giffard Asia Regionals on 22nd of May in Bangkok to compete and win her place for the Giffard West Cup Finals in Angers, on 6th June.

Jungle Book Recipe

  • 40ml Flor de Cana 5y

  • 20ml Giffard Banana liqueur

  • 20ml Coconut Cream

  • 15ml Lime juice

  • 10ml Giffard caramel syrup

  • 2dashes Angostura bitters

  • 1 Kaffir lime leaf
