DFDL Breakfast Seminar: How will the newly enacted Thai Competition Law impact M&A transactions?
BREAKFAST SEMINAR INVITATION
How will the newly enacted Thai Competition Law impact M&A transactions? 15 December 2017 | Bangkok
Competition law is generally underdeveloped in jurisdictions across South-East Asia, including Thailand. While Thailand has had a competition law for many years, it has generally been considered as an infant base to be strengthened and improved over time; particularly with reference to its merger regime. The Trade Competition Act is meant to address a number of issues identified in the previous legislation including the implementation of a merger regime for Thailand. For the first time, local and international economic concentrations affecting Thai markets may be subject to review and/or prohibition and Competition Law will have to be a consideration in the planning and implementation of such transactions.
In this breakfast seminar, we’ll be discussing:
The fundamental concepts and objectives of competition legislation
The new Thai Competition Law and new Thai merger regime
A South-East Asia comparison perspective: Recent developments in the Competition Law and merger regime environment in the Philippines
